Green Goddess Fire Engine
Try your luck behind the wheel of this nostalgic vehicle and get the feel of the magic created by going to the ‘rescue’ with your team.
History
Although the Green Goddess is most strongly associated with 1970s strife, it was actually a vehicle born out of Britain's '50s Cold War nuclear paranoia. They were part of a fleet of nearly 1000 vehicles procured in 1955 and 1956 for the Auxiliary Fire Service, which would protect civilians against fire in the event of nuclear war. They were also set up to be used as part of a relay pumping system that could pump fresh water anywhere in the UK through thousands of miles of latex hose. These Bedford RL-based fire fighters have passed into folk memory as the time-warp old stagers from a distant universe called the 1950s. They will never now come to the nation's rescue in a crisis, their legacy being associated with the Winter of Discontent during 1977/78.
